Students, residents, faculty, staff and officials gathered at Mount San Jacinto College on Jan 21, 2019 to honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the theme of "Resistance to Racism and Intolerance at the 13th annual MLK Unity Breakfast. Guest Speaker Dr. Jordan B. Smith Jr. inspired the crowd of about 150 people with "My Path of Resistance through Racism." Dr. King" had a vision. He had a dream. I didn't know at the time that he was speaking to me.," said Smith who served in the Marines, rising to the rank of major during his highly decorated career. Today Dr. Smith teaches math at Mountain View High School, an alternative school in San Jacinto. "I am a restorer. I change mindsets, "Smith said, noting that he helps many of his students graduate. "I make them believe in their abilities."

Dr. Jordan B smith jr.I attended the U. S. Naval Academy from 1972-1976 earning a B.S. in Mathematics. Served 20 years both active and reserve in the US Marines. Veteran of the Desert Shield/Storm. I earned a MAED and Ed D. specializing in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2015. I graduated from CBC High School in Clayton, MO in 1972. Archives
